Leslie Kwan is a Guyanese American harpsichordist, entrepreneur, and author. She grew up with Lincoln Center as her playground and American Pop music as her soundtrack. In addition to founding and directing her own baroque chamber orchestra, highlights of Leslie’s career includes sales at CHANEL and marketing for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 2021, Ms. Kwan launched MonarchMusic, an organisation that produces concerts in hospitals.
A IS FOR ARETHA, her debut children’s book, is Leslie’s gift to little Black girls everywhere to ensure that they learn about some of the most influential Black female musicians of all time, and inspire them to become the next Aretha.
It’s the kind of book that Leslie wished had been available to her as a young musician.
